Shuklagandaki Municipality’s Babiyodanda Thakuri Society has lifted the title of the 2nd Bhimad Multipurpose Agro Cup 2082, organized by Bhimad Multipurpose Agro Group, Bhimad Municipality–6, Tanahun. In today’s final, Babiyodanda defeated Shuklagandaki Municipality–10 Lokaditar by 3–1 sets to claim the championship. Lokaditar, who had also reached the final with the hope of lifting the trophy, had to settle for runner-up. Babiyodanda had entered the final by defeating Baudikali–3 in the semifinals, while Lokaditar secured their spot by overcoming Bhimad Municipality–2 Boksan. The champion team received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 along with a shield, medals, and certificates. The runner-up team was awarded Rs. 30,000 along with a shield, medals, and certificates. Similarly, Baudikali and Boksan, who secured the consolation positions, each received Rs. 10,000. Addressing the program, the chief guest social worker Jhakka Bahadur Saru, special guest chairman of the Nepal Retired Teachers’ Society Bhimad Chandra Prakash Subedi, social worker Dina Gotame, and Prof. Kshitiz Baral of Pokhara Investment Pvt. Ltd., among other speakers, stressed that sports help promote unity, discipline, and harmony in society and emphasized the need to continue such events. They also congratulated the winning and runner-up teams, highlighting that sports can guide the younger generation in the right direction and should be conducted more systematically in the future. On the occasion of Constitution Day, national volleyball players Bishwas Adhikari, Bibas Ale, and Himal Sunari were honored with cash prizes on Ashoj 3, while rising player Chandra Gaha Magar was honored at the closing ceremony, according to the club’s joint secretary Suraj Bik. Bhimad Multipurpose Agro Group has been organizing volleyball tournaments annually and will continue in the coming years, said group chairman Dijan Rana. He added that sports can help identify hidden talents among local youth, so the plan is to expand the competition in a more systematic and larger way. He further mentioned that the group aims to establish Bhimad as a center for sports by linking it not only with games but also with cultural and tourism promotion. The tournament also featured performances by well-known dancer Usmita Saru and other local artists. A total of 34 teams participated in the competition, informed sports coordinator Kharka Rana.
